The Requiem in C minor for mixed chorus was written by Luigi Cherubini in 1816 and premiered in January 1817 at a commemoration service for King Louis XVI of France on the twenty-fourth anniversary of his beheading during the French Revolution. The work was greatly admired by Beethoven, Schumann, Berlioz and Brahms. It was supposedly performed at Beethoven's funeral in 1827. The Requiem Mass consists of seven movements.

The Piano Concerto No.3 was always thought to have been composed in 1800, although the year of its composition has been questioned by some contemporary musicologists. It was first performed on April 5, 1803, with Beethoven as soloist. During that same performance, the Second Symphony and the oratorio, Christ on the Mount of Olives, were also premiered. The Piano Concert No. 3 was published in 1804, and was dedicated to Prince Louis Ferdin
